Some projects are long journeys. Lipsia is a typographic journey going for four years now. It began in 2015 during my Bachelors in Design at the University of Brasilia. Back then it was called Mathe and was my final project, devoted to mathematical typesetting in primary schoolbooks. Fátima Aparecida and Rafael Dietzsch supervised it.
From 2017 and 2018, I further studied type design with Fred Smeijers in Leipzig. It was a turning point in my understanding of the profession and what it takes to be a good type designer. Thanks to the many contributions Peter and Monique Mohr gave me, I restarted and expanded the project from scratch. As an homage, I renamed it Lipsia, which is the Latin version of the name Leipzig.
